I agree that you should ask how many years the contractor has been in business to find out how much experience they have. Experience is really important because then they've had time to learn from their mistakes. They've also probably figured out the most efficient way to do things.

Thanks for pointing out that we should ask the questions you listed before signing any invoice and giving our deposit money. I guess that is important for any person no matter the purpose may be, such as commercial or even industrial.
